Myst-Strains of Souls

The first thing what came into my mind
when I listened tot this demo was the darkness versus
the light.
Marjolein Hüsken has an angelic kind of voice that moves you in an
instant. But the music is heavy and strong layered with death-Grunts. This
young strong band is
a beauty in the making it needs to grow to show us their full potential.
This demo has three tracks on it. Lovetred, Strains of souls and Waiting for a new day.
begins softly
with a light guitar and the beautifull voice of Marjolein.
Then the grunt comes in and on the background
the phsychodelic twining of the guitars.
This begins rather with a new-wave opening. Thumping drums and a riddle of instruments.
Key
boards on the background but yet it is significant for their sound. Marjoleins voice has middle age sound it leaves you with an
eery feeling longing for a continuation of this great
song.
Up and away goes this last ride with Mystic Myst. Very clear and it reminds me somewhat of later Gathering and Orphanage.
Sadly the production of this second demo
is too light and too static, therefore the sound doesn’t do justice to their
music. They sound live very different as on record and that’s a pity.
Maybe next time they succeed to create
their live sound on record too.
They need too record with a full backing
of a record company and
will amaze everybody of their capability.
