SONICA is
a five piece prog rock band, formed in March 2000. Every new band needs a
comparison - so here is mine… Tool meets Black Sabbath meets Portishead meets
Faith No More… Sonica is lead by a strong female vocalist, driven by intense
high energy guitar, woven around layers of loops, samples, noises, old analogue
keyboards and driven by big arena style drums. This band has what it takes to
make it big.

Sonica has just finished production of their second

Kristy Munroe hails from Kingman. From an early age
Kristy has been in love with music, growing up on a farm in rural Alberta and
jamming the Beatles with her father. Kristy never had the lead role in Annie,
in fact her high school wasn’t big enough to put on a play and still have an
audience. Ok she did play Lady MacBeth but didn’t want that getting out. But
growing up in a rural setting not glued to Muchmusic or MTV gave her an edge
on what she liked to listen to, not what she should listen to. |

Murray
Taylor was born in Australia. Always interested in music, his ability to play
so many instruments makes him a tremendous asset to any project. Murray is a
graduate of the music program at Grant McEwan College. Murray has played in
many notable local bands and is in a race to own as much gear as possible... |

Todd Pretty came to Edmonton from Fort McMurray six
years ago to attend college. Soon after the move Todd got serious about
music. His first band in Edmonton was "Prune", a progressive metal
band, which went on to ink an indie deal and went on to record a full length
disc. After five years Todd left Prune to play in different local bands, notably
"Amber 416" & "rensliP". Todd is a great drummer
& a strong member of Sonica. |

Ian Everall was born on the moon and raised in the
South Pacific by dolphins. Over the past few years he has played with
Edmonton locals Funk Fusion Groove Intrusion and Funkafeelya. He is yet
another Grant Mac music program guy – although not as irritating as most.
When asked to comment on anything he might like included here, his reply was
“I’m having a hard time sleeping at night without a woman stuck between my
legs” Ian has fit in well with Stutterkiss. |
