The Merlin Bird are a five piece band that meld a variety of musical influences into an atmpspheric whole.

Their work contains elements of rock,folk and classical music, with lyrics that explore the strange and esoteric.

Their debut EP Reason and Rhyme has been descibed by the press as “a thing of wonder.

Melbourne band The Merlin Bird are planning to bring their mix of richly layered sounds and odd time-signatures to England in 2007 with their first international tour.

“The great thing about rock is that there really are no limits” says singer Geoff Dawes. “Where else could we put bits of Grand Opera and acoustica beside overdriven guitars and still have it work?”

“We have a pretty diverse set of influences” says guitarist Dave O’Toole. “There are elements of Radiohead and George in there, but two of our singers are classically trained, and the other sings jazz. Actually, we don’t sound like anyone else I know.
