As early as '85 Arpia began experimenting in their concerts forms of
aesthetic contamination involving pantomimes and actors around a project that would
exceeded the outlines of a traditional musical show in order to address itself
to theatrical research.
After two years of working in this direction, in 1987 is released, in
fruition of all the first writing phase, "de lusioni", experimental
demo but rich of forms and ideas later developed in a more organic way.
"Resurrezione e Metamorfosi", released in '88, clocking in at 40
minutes, is the work that concludes all of this phase.
In the two following years, those previous to the latest release on cassette,
"Bianco Zero", Arpia moved its attention with growing energy to the
more problematic and rich of consequences aspects of reality in which it has
definitely drawn it's blood: these are the grounds on which is implanted the
most recent production.
And effectively the latest evolution of the band sees a renewed
dimension of structuring the shows, which lost that genuinely theatrical
measure in order to address with more effectiveness towards a communicative
tension; the sonority changes considerably with the introduction of the
keyboards, which brings us to the tracks released on 7" in the September
of 1992: "Ragazzo Rosso" and "Idolo eCrine".
In April of 1995, this path finds its natural outlet both on an artistic
and discographic point of view, with the release of the first CD:
"Liberazione". It is a concept album around the idea of travel in the
historical memory of our country fifty years back, in fact, from the liberation
from Nazi fascism.
There isn't, however, a pure political will, but the need to regain a
collective history through individual stories. Lastly, in these last four
years, the evolution towards less rarefied sounds and more instinctive rythmic
solutions introduces collaborations with the band that see the participation of
Paola Feraiomi on vocals and Tonino De Sisirmo on percussions.
At the end of this phase, in September 2006, the latest album of the
band is released titled "Terramare" whose nucleus can be found in the erotic
experience of the world.
Earth and Sea, elements of physicity and sexuality, poles of a real and
recognizable continuity, horizontal and
pertaining both to a game of commonly accepted contrasts, in which every
element respects its role from the high of the irony of who already knows the
possibile combinations of love.
Earth and Sea, man and woman, on a common level, where the feeling of
the mystery of the other is alive and is put to the test continuously. The
divine element is excluded, the sky is without God and the only divinities are
the classic ones of forests and the seas, ancient symbols of sexuality.
